Lapland offers experiences like no other destination and a visit in December will certainly leave you with unforgettable memories.  A place of fascinating beauty with hundreds of magical winter activities and the opportunity to see the awe-inspiring The Northern lights and even catch a glimpse of Santa if he’s not too busy!.

There’s no getting away from the fact that the temperatures can fall as low as -35 degrees Celsius, which is chilly! Expect -7 to -20 degrees Celsius as a rule. There is approximately three hours of ‘blue light’ during the day with some activities taking place beneath the light of fires or candles that add to the atmosphere. The abundance of snow provides a magical setting and the flat landscape is perfect for leisurely Reindeer sleigh rides, exciting Husky adventures or turbo charged Snowmobile safaris. If you’re the adventurous type then a seven night stay is a must, there are plenty of things to do and experience, and activities for all ages. World class cross country skiing, Snow shoe walking, a stay in the famous Lainio Snow Hotel or even a night in a private glass Igloo where there’s the chance to witness the mysterious spectacle that is the Northern lights. NASA have predicted that the 2014/2015 season will produce the best display of the Aurora Borealis in over a decade.

For the young, or young at heart, Lapland offers the perfect opportunity to meet Father Christmas,  After all Lapland is the home of Santa Claus!

For those with little time it is possible to visit Santa in a day, which includes snowmobile adventures, husky dog experience, tobogganing and snowman making. The undoubted highlight is a sleigh ride through the forest on a secret track lit by twinkling lights to the hut where Father Christmas himself lives and is waiting to greet each child personally.

You’ll have a private meeting with Santa on some three and four night trips and have dinner with ‘the big man’ himself on your last night. There are trips where you have the opportunity to meet Santa and his Elves and help bake gingerbread in his workshop deep in the magical forest.

All trips include flights and transfers, accommodation and hot meals & drinks as specified, warm and cosy thermal suits and boots.  It is also advisable to take lots of layers, gloves & hats.

There are usually optional activities available to tailor-make your experience.  It’s the most magical moments that are sure to make a child’s dream come true and leave a smile on every adults face. Family memories to last a lifetime.
